How the calculator works
Weekly rent is multiplied by 52 to estimate annual rent, then divided by 12 for monthly rent. Affordability uses gross income as a simple planning guide. Final lease costs can vary by state, agency, and lease terms, so use the result as a planning estimate.
Why is monthly rent not weekly rent x 4?
Most months are longer than exactly four weeks. This tool uses weekly rent x 52 divided by 12, which is the usual annualised monthly equivalent.
Is 30% rent to income a strict rule?
No. It is a common guide, not a law. Your real comfort level also depends on bills, debt, transport, savings goals, and household size.
Can I use this for shared houses?
Yes. The split rent calculator divides the weekly rent between housemates and Pro mode can include shared bills and bond estimates.
